The Honda NSX, which as been a fantasy sports vehicle in the hearts of Honda fanboys, may still see the light of production. But not in any way you’d imagine. Honda has dropped the 5.5 liter V10 engine production for NSX, shifting to hybrid technology. A sad day for many gear heads, but for Honda the NSX may become their version of the Tesla Roadster.

NSX will reportedly contain a “next generation ‘valveless throttle’ 3.5-litre V6 with a hybrid system.” This Green-sportscar drive would produce about 330kW (450PS) of power. The company’s SH-AWD system is to be used and placed on an aluminum platform. No launch dates are yet mentioned, but given that the original V10 car was expected to launch in 2010, the hybrid version could follow along similar lines.

I’m willing to bet we’ll be looking at an entire new class of hybrid/electric (or hydrogen/ethanol, etc.) sports cars competing for consumer love within the next decade. Source/Pics: WCF
