Danica Patrick – Highest Paid Female Athlete

Honda Sponsor Danica Patrick has left Formula 1 for NASCAR, and is one of the highest paid female athletes in the world.

Kurt Badenhausen over at Forbes broken down the top-paid female athletes in the world. Who made it into the top 3?

“Racing’s Danica Patrick ranked No. 3 at $12 million. Patrick continues to split her time between IndyCar and Nascar’s Nationwide Series. Her fourth place finish in the Sam’s Town 300 in March was the highest finish ever by a woman in a Nascar race. Rumors are swirling that Patrick will race full-time in Nascar in 2011. A permanent move to Nascar would certainly boost Patrick’s income.”

Well, Danica did just that this past week. The driver has ended her relationship with Indy to go all out at NASCAR.

For the record, Forbes earnings estimates are for a 12-month period ending July 1, 2011. The magazine also factored in “prize money, salaries, appearance fees, licensing income and endorsements in our totals.”

Honda wants to be more than an automotive supplier (or a robot maker for that matter) – so the company recently produced three short documentaries promoting the power of dreams. Currently running three films on their official website, each explores great minds of the 21st Century, asking what it takes to succeed, how to handle failure, and what will become of mobility (ie: transport) in the next 80 years. Guests include filmmaker Christopher Guest and Race Car Driver Danica Patrick. Each shorts takes the viewer on a quest beyond your average “hey, buy our car because it’s cool” ad…but we’ll let you be the judge.
