2008 Honda Accord Review, Video & Pictures
While the predecessors of the 2008 Honda Accord Sedan have been classified as mid-sized sedans, this new beauty has been given enough interior space to move up to the classification of large sedan. But don’t let the categorization scare you. The all new Accord sedan has three powerful engine options: a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder, 177 hp in the LX models, a 190 hp version in the EX, and a staggering 268 hp 3.5 liter engine available in the V-6 versions of the EX and LX. Each Accord engine utilizes i-VTEC® for incredible power and efficiency at any speed, and the new V-6 engine equips the latest generation of Honda’s Variable Cylinder Management technology, which provides the car with quick acceleration as well as fuel saving.

Should you choose the 5 speed automatic version as I did, you’ll have access to the Grade Logic Control system which cuts down on the gear-searching that goes on during climbing up or driving down hills. The Accord Coupe engine options are a 2.4 liter with 190 hp, and two versions of the 268 hp, one in automatic and one in 6 speed manual. The handling of the Accord was incredibly sophisticated, as I always find it to be with Hondas, and the ample extra room in the back for passengers doesn’t slow you down one bit. So if one of your concerns is saving some green at the pump or saving some green on the planet, the Accord is one of your best bets for an eco-conscious ride.

In addition to the environmentally friendly yet powerful engine options, the Accord Sedan boasts the title of largest and most luxurious ever. It’s sister the Coupe, although itdoesn’t have as much room in it, is defiantly a rocket ship and handles just as incredibly as the sedan, if not better. From its returning distinctive “Honda headlights”, to its wider opening doors, either Accord is sure to please. My favorite option was the one-touch power moonroof, and the anti-pinch feature which detects resistance to the moonroof closing is great for kids and dogs. Also, uncommon attention to detail provide the finished exhaust and the chrome door handles which are available on the V-6 making the Accord highly praised by all I have known to drive it.

The interior was breathtaking. Honda defiantly had comfort in mind when they included the leather trimmed seats, the eight-way power adjustment on the driver’s seat, and a fold down center arm rest in the rear. If technology is your forte, the 2008 Accord Sedan offers ample amounts, such as the Satellite-Linked Navigation System with optional voice recognition built right in, the Bluetooth HandsFreeLink option which lets your make hands free phone calls, and of course the steering wheel mounted controls for music and cruise control. Each feature makes your ride even more smooth and enjoyable. If you’re a music lover like I am, then you’ll love the audio features from the Accord. 160-watt AM/FM/CD system with six speakers, and an optional six-disc CD changer available in the EX. If you decide on the EX-L, you’ll have access to all that, plus XM Satellite Radio built in. Plus, all Accords come with an aux input jack for your MP3 player.

While I can sit here and boast about the Accord being superior in all classes, the awards that it has won prove its excellence. In October of 2007 Motor Trend stated that the “benchmark award” firmly belonged to the 2008 Accord, stating that it simply offered more when it was put head to head against the Toyota Camry, and Accord now reigned as the best of the best. In addition, AutoWeek said they found that “everything about the new model is larger or better, whether you’re looking at overall size and interior volume, power output and fuel economy or the list of standard features.” (August 2007)
As a car lover, I’m always on the hunt for the best vehicle out there when it comes time for a new one, and the Honda Accord has my vote in 2008. With all the luxury available that one could imagine, fuel efficiency that no other maker can reach, details that no one would think of, and power that no other sedan in its class can match, the 2008 Honda Accord is all around an incredible drive and the best deal money can buy.
